What's happening?

My website is having a makeover, 2 years overdue.

Please be patient, I will be adding photos of my old uni work and current illustrations !

Follow me on twitter (@minirice_uk) or check out my Facebook 'Like' page, which currently houses some of my illustration work or check out my twitpic account for up-to-date images.

I have also decided that I will only be posting my work, artist spotlights and work that I find inspirational, rather than exhibitions, things that I have been to and other art related news.

The Lost Happy Endings

2010Posted by Lainey Thu, February 10, 2011 23:25:52
Thanks to my friend Annie, we went to the newly opened and redesigned Birmingham Mac (Midlands Arts Centre) to see the Christmas show called The Lost Happy endings based on a book by Carol Ann Duffy.

It was a really lovely set and I wish I had taken more pictures. During the show, whilst the actors spoke, they also signed, which I thought was a really unique touch to a show and I'd never seen anything like that before.

Ha. I only passed my test in November and when I bought my car in December, I managed to kill the battery!

This is just a little friend I drew to keep me company while I had to stand out in the SNOW !! I was FROZE!

While I was at the White Horse Pub at their Christmas fair, I was offering to do live commissions but unfortunately, I was only there for a certain amount of time and no one took up my offer!

I drew this little creature to 'advertise' it. I might use it on many things soon :)

Twitter Secret Santa 2010

2010Posted by Lainey Wed, February 09, 2011 13:48:07
After joining the world of twitter not long ago, I've been followed and following some lovely people.

Liam ( @_MrBrightside ) introduced me to the Twitter Secret Santa being 'hosted' by Danielle ( @danielleyc ) and Liam ( @LiamHodgeon ) where the Twitter folk who wanted to get involved would create a gift for their chosen Secret Santa.

TA DA! I was given the chance to create something for Jake ( @iloveedna ) and here is what I painted for him:

I was a bit cheeky and boring really by using something off his Jakes site which said 'Monsters and Party Rings'! which fitted me perfectly as I thought it would really suit my style.

It was nice to do something for someone that I didn't know and I hope he liked it!

I thought it was a funny one anyway..!

White Horse Pub Christmas Fair

2010Posted by Lainey Sun, February 06, 2011 21:45:09

I decided I needed to take some more action in getting my work out there, so I got in touch with the White Horse Pub who I found via my friend Ifti of The Definitive Design Co. and they kindly offered me a space at their Christmas fair, which I have previously mentioned in my previous post.

My little person to represent me..

The wonderful tree display below!

My little stall with my goodies on there. I was also going to do custom illustrations for people on cardboard but unfortunately, I never got the chance to.

It was a good experience as I've never been part of a christmas fair before. I was kept company by the lovely Lucy (also on twitter)

It was a while ago, but I much enjoyed the 20% off at Artbox that they offered when it was Hello Kitty's birthday!

A beautiful tea for one below...
