Stock to Loading & Trip to Urban Outfitters
2011Posted by Lainey Mon, April 25, 2011 22:48:48I've already posted these images in my 'For Sale' section but thought I would drop another mention about it as the stock was finally sent (March 2011) to Loading (Falmouth, Cornwall) to be sold in the cafe as well as a fair based in Falmouth.
This is how I get prepared to post my stock...on the bus! on my lap, cutting away at price labels with my little plastic wallets to contain them, hoping people do not think that I am somesort of a loon!
After posting the stock off, I went for a wander around town and popped into Urban Outfitters (again) for a gander. Upstairs next to the music section, they have a little gallery wall and upon it was the work of Luke Thompson. (Photos taken by my camera phone)
I thought it was quite clever to use a shape to create the canvas and even though the pieces were a bit scary (just a little bit) you could see the amount of time, effort and skill that went into it (this you can see in the close up below).
Clever pieces though too, especially the piece below, how the image plays with your mind and you're not always too sure what you are looking at. For some reason, these paintings reminded me of some of the characters in some of the Studio Ghibli animations.
You can look at more of Luke's work on his site: http://WWW.LUKETHOMPSONART.COM/ or you can 'Like' him on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lukethompsonart and while you're there, why don't you give my Facebook 'Like' page a like too? : https://www.facebook.com/pages/Minirice-graphic-design-illustration-/142661019092866
